Lifeguard Training
YWCA Central Maine is proud to offer American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification classes.
Prerequisites: include completion of a 200-yard swim-tread-swim sequence (swim 150 yards, tread water with no hands for 2 minutes, swim another 50 yards), and a timed deep water object removal in 7-10 foot depths. Lifeguard certification is valid for 2 years. Must be 15 years of age or older.
Cost: $375
(We are open to covering the cost of the course, provided you commit to continuing to work for the YWCA upon certification and complete our Training Agreement.)
Format: This course is done in a blended learning format which requires online training (approximately 5 hours to be completed before first in-person session.)

Organizations can email a request as long as there is a minimum of 5 participants. Please direct inquiries for price and available dates to rpage@ywcamaine.org.

NEW! Red Cross Babysitting Course
YWCA is now offering a Babysitter’s Training course - a comprehensive caregiving program that delivers real-life readiness babysitting skills to kids between the ages 11-16. Our engaging, youth-centered training combines hands-on practice, engaging videos, and interactive group activities to ensure participants are well-prepared for emergency situations. Satisfactory completion of the course will result in Red Cross Certification.
Saturdays 9:00am-12:00pm
(all four meetings are mandatory for certification)
