AQUATICS SCHOOL
The YWCA offers a broad range of course including: Lifeguarding, Lifeguarding Review, FIT (Fundamental Instructor Training), WSI (Water Safety Instructor), Basic Water Rescue, CPR/AED for Porfessional Rescuers, and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers Recertification.
aquatic school course prerequisites
Lifeguard Training: Minimum age 15
Skill Level:
1. Swim 300 yards continuously: 100 yards front crawl with breathing (to the side or to the front) and a stabilizing, propellant kick; 100 yards breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick, glide sequence; and 100 yards of either or both of the above stated stroke patterns.
2. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound block, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point on the back with the object on the surface of the water, and exit the pool without using a ladder or steps within 100 seconds.
Water Safety Instructor: minimum age 16
Skill Level:
1. Proficiency in front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, and butterfly to America Red Cross Level IV standards.
2. Must possess a certificate from an American Red Cross Fundamentals of Instructor Training course completed within the past 12 months or a current American Red Cross Health and Safety Services Instructor Authorization.
CPR for the Professional Rescuer: No minimum age or prerequisites
Fundamental of Instructor Training: No minimum age or prerequisites

After we have received payment in full you will receive a confirmation letter and a schedule of when you can practice before your course begins.
cancellation policy
- All fees will be refunded if we cancel a course.
- If you cancel 2 weeks prior to the course we will refund all except a $50.00 administrative fee.
- If you drop out during the course, there will be no refund.
- If for some reason you do not pass the prerequisites, you will be offered the next available course or you may have a refund minus $75.00
